Off late there has been a lot of reports, both via the main stream media as well as blogs, about the increasing number of attacks on women. So i decided to do an RCA (Root Cause Analysis) of the situation myself. Basically i wanted to find answer to these questions -
- Why do such attacks happen?
- Who are these attackers? Are they teenagers or people well in their late 30s?
- Whom did they target? What was so special about the people who were attacked?
- What they did, is it wrong? … etc.
As far what i read in the news papers and what i heard from others discussing, these attacks were orchestrated by people who say they are supporting the ‘Indian Culture‘. They call them selves as the conservators of Indian Culture. The good Samaritans who resorted to a quick resolution of the problem, attacked the women to save the Indian Culture form getting westernized, the same evil forces from which the Mahatma delivered us (they might argue so)
Hence we have our Problem Statement as : The Attack was to preserve/conserve the Indian Culture.
Analysis:
Now that we have defined the problem statment, lets looks at the analysis. Lets define what happened, what were the public reactions like.
The people who attacked women in Mangalore, Bangalore, Mysore (???), some-other-’ore’ etc. ( lets refer them for the time being as SenaPpl), just couldn’t digest the fact that the bharatiya naari (Indian Woman) dressed in jeans and T-s. Plus the fact that they were dining at a lounge, crossing-the road, waiting for a bus or even minding-their-on-business when they where attacked.
The people who were attacked (we will refer them as Victims), were teenagers and techies. The Victims all had one thing in common, they were wearing western clothes – jeans, t-s, skirts etc. If you might notice the attacks were not on women who were wearing saree/salwar/any authentic Indian dress. The SenaPpl were all men. There were no incidends of women attacking men or women attacking women. It was the XY chromosomes attacking the XX Chromosomes.
How this could have avoided?
Before we answer this question, lets take time to look at the avg lady, that men, like us, stare. I’m pretty much sure that they all will have common features. They wear jeans that’s well defines the anatomy of the female buttocks. T-shirts that leave even the onlookers suffocated, and which define the inner-lining (you know what i mean
). Shirt that kills you, coz they are close to popping all their buttons off. Skirts –
lighter than air, higher than the knee etc etc… How could anyone, esp the SenaPpl, suffer such blasphemy. How can they not react when the Indian Culture is forgotten and is ridiculed in such ways. Some one had to react and they did. Bravo!
Imagine, how can you bring up your child (provided you survive after all the project deadlines) in such a place… Hai Raam, Hai Raam
Look at the Indian Culture as defined in the Purana’s, esp. that portion where they define the dress-code. Look at some temple carvings/paintings for reference.
Hmm i clearly feel offended. These Victims, clearly deserved that. No one realized what the SenaPpl really wanted the Bharatiya Naari to look like. For Sri Krishna sake, look at the Amar Chitra Kathas, the indian Marvel Comics. No one ever had any problem with these going around for the last 30-40 years. So we should follow the dress-code in those books and look at temples for fashion reference.
How uncomfortable its for you and me, to see a girl walk by and you only get too see a lining of her skin between the jeans and the short top. Worse is when they wear a spaghetti top. Its very tough for me when i see a lovely ass go by in a tight jeans.
I support when they say they want the pubs to be closed by 10PM. Coz in the truly Indian way. You go home to the lady dressed like above before its too dark. We dont have any women dressed like that, so we are stuck in pubs.
Solution:
So Victims and to-be-victims, know whats the real dress-code is, alleviate the pain, understand what the SenaPpl are trying to do. Stop sending them pink-chaddis (for all you might know, they might be using them).
- Support and Reunite for the betterment of Indian Culture.
- Ritu Beri should actually present this in the next Paris Fashion Week.
- Boycott the western fashion and embrace whats truly Indian…
We need more women dressed like that on the roads, imagine how productive the Indian work environment would be. Imagine the cut in the air-conditioning bill. There are more than one way this change is going to benefit us.
