Script, The

I had already mentioned that i’m writing a script for the New Year celebration at my office, thought i will just share  the complete one here.
In the final final script. I’m playing my own character, The Writer.
All the persons in the play are characters in my office. This is what went through my head when i sat down to write the script. So what better way to put that as a play.
The characters include a King, Queen and Manjulika, which were supposed to be the real characters of my play. Then it has Captain (she leads our team Globetrotters), manager Swaraj (there is no one called Swaraj here. It has been derived from two names), and Jobless Manager. The Jobless Manager is in fact a real person and has tonnes of job, but she is kid enough to spare time for a cup to tea every day. Everyone played their own part except for the manager.
So here it is at google docs. Let me know what you feel about my maiden script.

Something Every Critic should know…

While reading Sanjukta’s post onTaare Zameen Par | Review Rip Off, it struck me that critics generally dont do justice to a persons work. (and thats why we call them Critics.. moron..). Though a lifetimes work might have gone into a creation, let that be the movie, songs, art, nothing escapes the critics noose.

Critics are necessary to build something of artistic value by pointing areas of improvement. But these days Critics have become art destroyers. They pointlessly rip apart a movie/art, like a sex maniac on a rape rampage, and goes on to publish their work for the bitter enjoyment of the masses as an accomplishment…

In the movie Ratatouille(2007), Anton Ego is a mean Food Critic, but at the end of the movie he goes on to give this critique :

…In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face is that, in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new… (read more)

This i say, every critic should read and understand before they wake up the rampaging art rapist in them.

Muziboo – Me, Myself and My Music

Lets Get an Audience !!!

logo mid left Muziboo Me, Myself and My MusicWhen was the last time that Bob Dylan made a difference in the way Indians shared, listened and enjoyed music? Or when was the last time that singing ‘Knockin’ on heaven’s door’ to your girlfriend, made a difference to other music lovers? Thats the story of Muziboo. The indian music sharing site.

Yes!!! I know!!! Its INDIAN … icon smile Muziboo Me, Myself and My Music . Something by browns for browns.

I know there is Tempostand, and whats so great about Muziboo. Both host and share music, its like the north and south indian sambar! Hell No!!!.

Tempostand is for pure podcasts. Its the best music sharing site. So one can expect a kind of quality that is inherent and not my late night gags. Its the un-crowned indian professional podcasting world. Nothing against Temostand. After all it has two of my friends involved – Woke who did the design and Ujj who did the coding.

Muziboo on the other had, as their punch line says – “Get an Audience”is more of a community driven music sharing portal. The first of its kind in India. You can make a recording with just about anything (incl. your comb .. if that records) and upload it there. No editing no mixing nothing. Its the basement music that you get. You don’t have to be a professional singer, people are there to enjoy and appreciate your effort. It could be even your version of the hit song too. May be it could be a dedication to your girlfriend. Who knows you might find one at Muziboo???logo mid mid Muziboo Me, Myself and My Music

Besides, you can form your own music community, your fans join in and you create an identity for yourself. And that doesn’t even stop there, you can start your own band and post previews of your upcoming albums too. As the next level in the features, you can expect music tutorials, create a play list of your favorite songs, share the play list and even a widget for you blog/site. Now how cool is that.

Here are the Muziboo finders :

Prateek Dayal who sang Guncha koi and Knocking on heaven’s door which lead to Nithya Dayal who has sung Yellow Submarine-Beatles , Jambalaya and Time of your life

And its the combined interest of music in them that gave birth to Muziboo. (Sounds like a Bollywood movie icon wink Muziboo Me, Myself and My Music )

Om Shanti Om – The Review…

350px Omshantiom Om Shanti Om The Review...Damn i have been doing a lot of reviews these days … icon smile Om Shanti Om The Review...

I’m now back in my room after watching the 2nd show of Om Shanti Om (OSO). Yesterday i went for the same movie at the same time and boy i’m happy that i didnt buy the tickets at 120 for black. At least i only wasted 80. icon wink Om Shanti Om The Review...

Farah Khan’s attempt to repeat the same success of Karz .. hmmm .. lets say didnt just hit the mark.

30 years ago the hero Om (Shah Rukh Khan) is in love with the then heroin of the celluloid, Shanti (Deepika). She is portrayed as close to the Nagris. Then the villain Mukesh (Arjun Rampal) tries to kill her towards the end of the first-half. Om tries to save her and they both die.

The movie resumes 30 years later and Om is reborn with the silver spoon. He is now son of a celebrity and is the hottest hero. He remembers the past when he frequently has vission-spasms. OMG!!. Shanti is now reborn as Sandhya a wannabe actress (ohh what a vicissitude of fate … ) Together they plot against the villan Mukesh and take revenge.

Darde Dil … Darde Jigar … Karz was faaaar faaar betterrrrr (Sing in the same tune).

The movie is plagued by boringly lengthy unnecessary scenes , making me think that Farah wanted to fill the hindi classic 3hrs. There is no real acting at display bar Arjun Rampal who played the villain. He has done justice to that role.

What to expect? – aahhh Deepika, Deepika, Deepika…
Some sober sided comedy in the first half
And an all star song …

The song Deewangi Deewangi, is a commendable piece of work. Its the only thing of creativity that Farah deserves a pat on the back. Managing 31 stars!!! Whoop …

Another interesting act is being put up by Abhiskek Bachchan and Akshay Kumar. They really play a part that they will never do in any movie for any one. They played themselves and made excellent comic scenes on themselves.

The movie in short could have been made a little more better. Its a one-time-watch-only and if you can wait and rent it from the neighborhood video shop still better.

Bebot – Lyrics

BlackEyedPeasMonkeyBusiness2005 Bebot LyricsWell if u have watched the song Bebot by Black Eyed Peas, that i posted before, you will agree that its a really thumping song. So i ding up the net and get the lyrics and the translation.

The searching did yield a good translation in the first go itself. Milkphish has translated the song. Its available here.

First Bebot, the song, is in Tagalog, a Philippine language. Bebot is the Tagalog slang for “hot chick”.

Heto na ang tunay na Pilipino
:Here comes the real Filipino:
Galing sa baryo – Sapang Bato
:Came from the barrio – Sapang Bato:
Pumunta ng L.A. – nagtrabaho
:Went to L.A. and labored:
Para makatulong sa Nanay
:In order to help my mother:
Dahil sa hirap ng buhay
:Because life is so hard:
Pero masaya pa rin ang kulay
:But the disposition’s still bright:
Pag kumain – nagkakamay
:When eating – we use our hands:
‘yung kanin – *chicken adobo
:What we eat – chicken adobo:
‘yung balut – binibenta sa kanto
:The *balut – being sold at the corner:
Tagay mo na nga ang baso
:Share the glass already:
Pare ko, inuman na tayo
