BCB4_logo Bar[camp] Bangalore 4 - The finale!!!

Two days of exhilarating bliss, a Techies-in-wonderland, final nail in the coffin for the saying “Too many cooks spoil the (what ever)

Just that everyone had a lot of fun learning. A new definition to fun learning. It was my first barcamp and i’m already looking forward for the next one. Owning to the less number of women participants, there was this opinion of having it at Jyothi Nivas College or Mt Carmel… :)

I met some very interesting personalities there made hell lot of friends.

So till the next Barcamp in November

BCB4 - Nearing the EOD

Jerry Posted in Blogging, Friends Blogging, barcampbangalore4, bcb4, blogaloreans 2 Comments »

BCB4 - Nearing the EODThe E-governance Collective did it the traditional way, Outside!!!.
The Panchayath Way :)

BCB4 - Nearing the EODHey we had free t-shirts. and i’m standing way back there.

Its almost EOD, and lots of sessions and talkings later the energy is no less.
The day started with an announcement that eod will feature real trips to real bars :) looking fwd to that.

BCB4 - Nearing the EODThe Startup and bloggers collective had a fair amount of turn up.

Right now what got over was a jumping animated Umesh talking about Promoting the your blog. Some points to be noted

  • Shameless Self Promoting
  • Making people comment by making the posts such that people feel like commenting
  • Make girl friends and make them read it
  • Have a partner in crime who comments for every thing on your blog
  • Write good and if you cant wait till you get the rythm
  • Start controversies
  • Respect your commentors, put a comment back.
  • Visit the commentors blogs
  • If its a girl comment on her style/foto if she has one

Right now its Main Stream Media vs Blogging by Saurabh. Talking about how effective is MSM news and Blogging. Its all based on trust when a person decides to go by your word or opinion. The discussion is still going on …

Post Lunch Sessions

Jerry Posted in Blogging, Freedom, Friends Blogging, Media, Town & City Life, barcampbangalore4, bcb4, blogaloreans No Comments »

Heated up responses going on at the Blogger’s Collective
Topic : Bloggers reacting to the way news is getting reported by the media in Bangalore or put it this way What does a blogger does better than a news paper report?
Discussion brought about by Subbu of IndiaTogethersmall_logo Post Lunch Sessions
Interesting points

  • Bloggers have no affiliations, reporters are like ‘biased’ in a way
  • Bloggers write about anything that affects them (Trees felled at Race course road)
  • Bloggers dont go at the whims and fancies of the editors, they are simply free
  • Publishers should have a community of trusted bloggers, from which they can have unbiased and real news
  • Bloggers needs to be driven and motivated to sustain blogging and get readers
  • Blogging community has its own eyes

Other sessions happening

  • Ruby
  • Photo Collective
  • Un-Band
  • Creative-Commons

You might wanna check out - Un-Band Collective, where they are going to tell you how to have an entire orchestra through your lap top
Photo competition is active now, the search for the best foto in BCB4 (Just a reminder)

Now attending - How to help blogs into search engines - the KISS principle by Thejesh

(Watch out for a video interview of Thejesh soon)

Day-1 BCB4 Roundup…

Jerry Posted in Blogging, Computer and Internet, Friends Blogging, Fun, Geekiness, Media, Nation, barcampbangalore4, blogaloreans No Comments »

BCB4_logo Day-1 BCB4 Roundup...The organizers did an excellent job, they got a place for us to get together, a place to talk, but thank god they were not strict at anything. It was like giving every one a kg of rice to cook at the end of the day we had pulav, curd rice, biriyani, fried rice, etc etc etc and some invented ones too … (the true spirit of a barcamp)

The hang over of attending my first ever barcamp is showing its side-effects on me. I’m here killing my roomies with the verbiag, talking about the uber-geek and uber-geek girls that i saw (wish i had their numbers) and i’m still up blogging about it.

What!!!,Dude you missed it! You have the your last reason to be alive, its there agian tomorow. Attend it!!!

The day started off announcing that we are all Indians, and hour late. SO what lazy people like me who slept off were able to make it on time. of the 550+ (the figure i heard as word of mouth) people who attended it 70% where first timers, there was a guy who was attending his 4th barcamp and another his 5th. Interestingly there was an educator who was interested in knowing about the technologies and dropped in to learn.

The crowd pulling collectives were mainly Investors Collective, Internet Collective and Startups Collective. Wow!!! indeed people are money minded. (these had people more that they could ask for)

The ones that had a room full of participants were Bloggers Collective, Ruby Collective, Mobile Collective and almost all the technical collectives.

The jovial collectives were Photography, Biking, Eat out at Bangalore and Un-Band

The Un-band not-so-bad-band had the evening for themselves when they performed a live jamming session for a packed audience. I enjoyed the flow of the music. You guys rocked.

What to expect tomorow? - I’m sure about Bloggers’ Collective continuing and may be i might have a collective on Firefox Plugins. But as i said planned collectives were killed and new ones were born at the spot, so just be prepared for anything.

May be someone might talk about SEX! ohhh ;)

BCB4_logo The end of day1 ...Live jamming session at the auditorium.

I’m starting to do do head banging. They were too good

  • and there was no Gaming collective … lemme see what i can do tomorrow… i just cant watch the gaming collective getting killed .
