E-mail Stress => STRESS++

keyboard help E mail Stress => STRESS++ As if the whole STRESS thing was not enough stressful, here comes another STRESS that is stretched out to be stressful. Its the new kid in the block- EMAIL STRESS

Daily Mail Reports

According to new research increasing numbers of workers say they are swamped with a never-ending tide of messages.
Trying to keep up with a stream of incoming mail interrupts normal work and leaves staff tired, frustrated and unproductive, it concluded.
Employees also feel under pressure to check and respond quickly to emails, with some checking their inbox up to 40 times an hour.

Well i have my own reasons to agree to that. Ever tried missing out to reply to a mail by your boss, ever missed out to reply to a mail by your client. When everyone is running after money, they what to extract the last bit of juice out of you. Think about the stress that you are under if you miss out a mail, the endless reasonings that you would have to give. So i just keep checking the mails regularly.
But i have to admit, that is not the entire problem. I check my mail box and if i dont get any mails, that too is a cause of worry. Feels like people forgot me.

Is there anything that we can do to avoid this? Life is already stressed, but not checking mails is not an option too. May be we should have a definite time during the work time called, mail response time, where only a person need to read and reply to mails. Its not a bad idea either.

Here is Web 2.0 !!!

400px Web 2.0 Map.svg Here is Web 2.0 !!!

So digging about Web3.0, after hearing about that, I came across this definition of Web2.0 by Tim O’Reilly, the person who was responsible for all the versioning of web and complicating things.Something that will help you comprehend it without reading the whole thing (stolen from it word-to-word) -

In our initial brainstorming, we formulated our sense of Web 2.0 by example:

Web 1.0   Web 2.0
DoubleClick –> Google AdSense
Ofoto –> Flickr
Akamai –> BitTorrent
mp3.com –> Napster
Britannica Online –> Wikipedia
personal websites –> blogging
evite –> upcoming.org and EVDB
domain name speculation –> search engine optimization
page views –> cost per click
screen scraping –> web services
publishing –> participation
content management systems –> wikis
directories (taxonomy) –> tagging (“folksonomy”)
stickiness –> syndication

What he says and how you interpret is up to you.

For me, a simple Web will do and all these things come to pic, no need of Web2.0 or Web3.0 or WebX.0

(pic courtesy – wikipedia)

Web3.0 … Wait what was Web2.0?

400px Web 2.0 Map.svg Web3.0 ... Wait what was Web2.0?

Well, Web2.0 was defined and many people are yet to know about it, though they are living and breeding in it.

Web 2.0 as defined in wikipedia -
Web 2.0 – refers to a perceived second generation of web-based communities and hosted services — such as social-networking sites, wikis and folksonomies — which facilitate collaboration and sharing between users.

While many still argue and debate about the Web 2.0 as mere term and has nothing to do with the world-wide-web, when still people are trying to conceive the web in terms or versions, when half of the world is yet to get connected and many thousands are dying. Here comes Web 3.0. (WTF.. yeah that was what went through my mind first)

Read/WriteWeb reports –

He said that while Web 2.0 was based on Ajax, Web 3.0 will be “applications that are pieced together” – with the characteristics that the apps are relatively small, the data is in the cloud, the apps can run on any device (PC or mobile), the apps are very fast and very customizable, and are distributed virally (social networks, email, etc).

He called Web2.0 as a marketing strategy too.

His definition is towards more mobility and connectivity. Hey, Wait a sec! i have been hearing the same stuff for a long time round.

Pownce – The next big flick or yet another worthless imitation

Screenshot Pownce The next big flick or yet another worthless imitation I got the invitation for Pownce, from AJ, when we met for the bangalore bloggers’ meet.

Yesterday i created an account in Facebook, and i found it as a worthless imitation of Orkut. Leave alone the fact that simple things like joining a group took me 2 minutes to figure out, coz i found too many links cluttered.(:) i know that was silly)
Coming to Pownce. Ok, read the wikipedia page and you will get to know about the entire genesis of Pownce.

Think Digg and you have user rated links
Think Del.icio.us, you have your online bookmark sharing
Think Rapidshare, you have your fille sharing
Think Orkut, you have scraps between friends
Think of any online forum, and you have you discussions
Now think of all that in one page, just one click away and a lot simpler and less cluttered – Thats POWNCE

The interface is very appealing, very smooth, nice little crafted themes, eye-candy. icon wink Pownce The next big flick or yet another worthless imitation Girls will adore it.

I just loved the whole thing in the first place, though i was a bit skeptical about it in the first place. I was tired of the countless invitations from all the networking sites, XYZ added you as a friend at this-is-to-bug-you.com, ABC is inviting you to driving-you-to-the-wall.com .. ohh my god!!!

But this one, is different, Orkut was one of a kind when it came and so is Pownce.
