Literacy can be a PIA…

PIA is Pain In Ass and not Pakistan International Airlines.

Being a Mallu or Malayali (not being offensive in any way by calling myself a Mallu), i’m proud that when it comes to literacy we are doing fairly good as a state. So when this article came to my attention – 300% increase in violence against women in India’s most literate state – i did feel very bad. Being literate we were supposed to be as a model for others to follow and we all together portraying a wrong picture here.

But the i saw the other angle of that. They reached that statistics coz women in Kerala realized the power of law and that there are laws that protect them from domestic violence. They approached the law when in need. The clause that caught me is – “cases files”.

So all those state that say that there is only a marginal increase in domestic violence or that the stats have fallen, RETHINK!!! It could be because that people dont know about the law. Tell them about the law and then lets see.

Even though the report said all that about Kerala, it still quotes this -

But change could happen fast in Kerala, thanks to high levels of literacy. Greater awareness, redressal mechanisms, etc. could help women move forward, as has been seen in recent times.

Thats why i say Literacy can be a real Pain in the Ass at times …

Washington: A series of unusual ads in the Pakistani media advising people how to handle missing or stray radioactive material should they come across it has raised hackles in the West and revived a debate about the country’s well-chronicled reputation for nuclear irresponsibility and adventurism. The ads, which appeared last week in several Urdu-language newspapers, featured the large, yellow radiation symbol and a warning to report any lost or misplaced isotopes, according to Nature magazine which first reported the matter.

Though they claim that none of the nukes, or radio active materials have been stolen/lost, everyone has a cause of worry, the A Q Khan proliferation episode. He being the spear head of Pakistan’s Nuclear venture, had apparently given designs and plans to Iran.

The erstwhile Soviet Union had also some of these issues. They finally ended up as a cluster of nations. So do we see history in the remaking? With the current Balochistan conflict and the POK issues, i see a white streak…

Discovery Channel and National Geographic Channel are among my favorite and I’m like glued to these channels for hours. Lately i was watching the show where they show the construction and other details of this M6A1 Tank of the U.S. Armed Forces.m1a1 tank To be Deployed Overseas

I was totally glued to the program and i enjoyed the program about these mean machine.

Towards the end there was this statement that totally got me off guard. It was the concluding line of the program and it went like this – “.. and Its ready to be deployed over-seas!!!” icon surprised To be Deployed Overseas .. what the hell.

Aren’t these things meant to protect once own home land or is it to destroy someone else’s overseas. Now i’m thinking twice of watching these programs. If its meant to display the arsenal and military strength of some country run by stupid politicos who fool their people when wrecking the peace at some distant place, No Way, i got better use with my time.

Enough is enough, he preassurised me with work for 2 weeks and I just reacted. Now i will have my way. He comes late to office and he expectes you to stay and work late. What Shit??? Fought very nicely with him for 3 times and I think I made my point clear.

It feels really good. I promise that it was him who drew the first blood. What can he do if i react? He can at the max release me from this project, thats all he can do. I’ll be more than happy… icon smile Manager.... i feel a lot relieved now.
